Whilst Shannan is young in age, just 28 years old, she carries a wealth of knowledge, experience, and grit.
Having held several key roles in the construction industry prior to her start with Watermark Constructions in 2018, Shannan has gone from strength to strength ever since.
When Shannan started with Watermark Constructions, she was a Project Manager supporting on existing disaster recovery projects. In early 2019 Shannan was ready to take lead on the Gympie Hail event. ‘This time really shaped me and set me up for what I was to become as a person, supporting our client and customers, and as a manager of trades people and supporting staff,’ said Shannan.
By early 2020 Shannan had become the Senior Project Manager, providing support and guidance to the full team of Project Managers at Watermark Constructions.
It was at this time, Hew Williams - Managing Director, offered Shannan a company sponsored position in the Certificate IV Building & Construction program. With the guidance and mentorship of the Senior Management team, Shannan went on to complete that course in late 2021 and now holds her Low-rise Builders License. Shannan was then appointed to the role of Manager, Project Operations.
Shannan sums up her success at Watermark Constructions as ‘my managers have always been completely supportive of my growth. As my training pathway expanded to include the Certificate IV Building & Construction, I became more confident to take on greater responsibilities and larger, more complex projects.’
Watermark Constructions is comprised of a diverse mix of passionate, intelligent, and qualified people. Shannan went on to say, ‘…I am proud to be part of such a great team, full of empowered women and men.’
When asked about her work-life balance, Shannan said, ‘My role offers me the flexibility to work from home. As such, my office is nestled between ocean and hinterland, meaning when I log off for the day, I am only minutes from having my toes in the sand. I balance my career and personal responsibilities well and am looking forward to the future with Watermark Constructions.’
Who we are as a business, is who we are as people.
